City of Hoover announces entertainment for second annual Freedom Fest

HOOVER — The Onlys, the Rhett Walker Band and Ryan Kinder will perform live at second annual Freedom Fest set for July 4 at Hoover Metropolitan Stadium. The event is free to the public.

“This event is a time for our community to come together to celebrate Independence Day in a safe environment,” Mayor Gary Ivey said in a news release. “Residents of all ages will be able to enjoy some great entertainment and a spectacular fireworks show at no charge at the Met.”

Live music will kick off at 6 p.m. with The Onlys, a local seven-piece band whose “focus is on playing the entire spectrum of music with an emphasis on what people can dance to,” according to a news release.

The Rhett Walker Band will perform at 7 p.m.  Led by 25-year-old rising Christian musician Rhett Walker, the band recently released its debut album titled “Come to the River.”

Kinder, a Hoover native that has signed with Bigger Picture Group, will perform at 8 p.m. Kinder is currently on a nationwide tour promoting his debut single “Kiss Me When I’m Down.”

Freedom Fest also will feature a car show and a kids zone. Gates open at 5 p.m. with the car show and children’s activities like inflatables, face painting and balloon twisters. Car owners that would like to participate in the car show should arrive by 4:30 p.m. for placement. There is no charge to enter the car show.

The fireworks show will begin at 9 p.m.
