Harpersville

Wilda C. Jackson, age 89, of Harpersville, passed away May 30, 2014, at St. Vincent’s St. Clair Hospital.

Funeral service was held at Curtis and Son Childersburg Chapel on June 2 at 11 a.m. Visitation was held at Curtis and Son Childersburg Chapel on June 1 from 5:30-8 p.m. Burial followed in Harpersville Cemetery. Reverend William Rayfield and Reverend Theoangelo Perkins officiated the services.

She is survived by her son, Danny Jackson (Pam) of Harpersville; two grandchildren, Scott Jackson (Brandi) of Chelsea and Kimberly Jackson of Harpersville; three great-grandchildren, Jada and Dani Jackson and Abigail Chaviers; a sister who was more a daughter, Olene C. Rich (Leon) of Pell City; grandsons, David and Ryan Rich of Pell City; sisters, Joyce C. Hudgins of Calera and Bettye C. Kreh (William) of Anniston; and a host of nieces and nephews.

She is preceded in death by her husband, Marvin Gorden Jackson; her parents: Luther and Rosie T. Carroll; two brothers, Eugene Carroll and William Grover Carroll; five sisters, Catherine C. Christian, Delphia C. Perry, Hattie C. Belcher, Mildred C. Caton and Rhonda C. Lewis.

She was a loving wife, mother, grandmother and great-grandmother. She was also a “Mamaw” to many other local children that she cared for in her home over many years.

Pallbearers include Ryan Rich, Ethel Lobdell, Gary McSherdon, Randy McSherdon, Freddie McSherdon and Damon Lewis.
