Westover man arrested and charged with domestic violence

WESTOVER—A Westover man was arrested and charged with counts of domestic violence and burglary after an incident, which occurred “on or about” May 25, according to court documents.
Juan Pablo Gonzales Reyes, 23, was arrested by Shelby County police officers after allegedly entering the victim’s home and “assaulting the victim with the intent to cause physical harm,” according to documents.
Reyes allegedly “strangled, punched, slapped, pushed to the ground” the victim, according to documents in the case.
Reyes is currently being held in the Shelby County Jail on bonds totaling $30,000 and is set to appear before Judge Dan Reeves on July 10.
Domestic violence by suffocation or strangulation and second-degree domestic violence, third-degree burglary are both Class B felonies. If found guilty, Reyes could face between two and 20 years in prison on both charges.
