ALABASTER – Those looking for a relaxing way to end the week while catching an array of family friendly flicks will have a chance on several Fridays over the next several weeks during Alabaster’s Movies in the Park series.

The free events will begin at 8 p.m. on Fridays at Veterans Park off Alabama 119. During Movies in the Park, the Alabaster Parks and Recreation Department will project a movie onto a large inflatable screen in a field near the back of the park.

Visitors are encouraged to bring blankets and lawn chairs to set up in front of the screen.

The following movies will be played throughout the Movies in the Park series:

-June 20: “Frozen”

-July 11: “Monsters University”

-July 25: “The Lego Movie”

-Aug. 8: “Despicable Me 2”

-Aug. 15: “Cloudy with a Chance of Meatballs”

The Aug. 15 Movies in the Park celebration will also include the city’s annual Back to School Bash, which will include several activities and games for Alabaster’s younger residents as they return to school. The time for the Back to School bash will be announced on the city’s website at Cityofalabaster.com/departments/parks-recreation/events-schedule-2012/events-schedule-july-thru-december-2012.
