Shelby County BOE names new transportation coordinator

COLUMBIANA—The Shelby County Board of Education unanimously approved a motion to name Rick Vines as the new transportation coordinator during their June 5 meeting.

Vines thanked the board and said he is “very excited” about the new position.

Vines has over 23 years of experience as an educator and is currently the transportation route supervisor for Shelby County Schools. Vines previously served as an assistant principal at Oak Mountain High School.

Vines earned a bachelor’s degree in business education from the University of Alabama and a master’s degree in educational leadership from the University of Alabama at Birmingham.

“I still have a lot to learn, but I’m looking forward to getting to work,” Vines said.
