Funeral service for Walter Lee Jones Jr., 86, will be June 19 at 2 p.m. at Radney-Smith Chapel with Dr. Larry Morrison and Dr. Rick Patrick officiating. Burial will be in Evergreen Cemetery in Sylacauga.

Mr. Jones died Monday, June 16, 2014, in Maylene. Mr. Jones worked as Lab and Quality Control Manager for Farmbest/Flav-o-Rich Ice Cream from 1930 until 1960. He was a member of The First Baptist Church of Sylacauga where he was a member of the Men’s Fellowship Sunday School Class. He was honorably discharged from the United States Air Force with the rank of Airman First Class. He served as a member of the Coosa Valley Medical Center Men’s Auxiliary for many years. He was a loving husband, father and grandfather. He was a volunteer at the Marianna Green Henry Special Equestrian for the Alabama Institute for the Deaf and Blind in Talladega. He loved genealogy and was a graduate of Oxford High School and Auburn University.

He is survived by his wife, Elinor C. Jones of Sylacauga; daughter, Cynthia Jones of Alabaster; son, Kenneth W. Jones (Peri) of Helena; grandsons, Caleb Jones and Daniel Jones, both of Helena; sister, Mary Martha Jones of Oxford; and niece, Shasta R. Jones.

Visitation will be June 18 from 5-8 p.m. at Radney-Smith Funeral Home.

In lieu of flowers the family request donations to The Care House, P.O. Box 2594, Sylacauga, AL 35150, or The First Baptist Church of Sylacauga, P. O. Box 234, Sylacauga, AL 35150.

Honorary pallbearers will be friend, Jack Mizzell, Men’s Fellowship Sunday School Class at First Baptist Church of Sylacauga and Coosa Valley Medical Center Auxiliary.
