A 49-year-old Alabaster man is being held in the Shelby County Jail on bonds totaling $95,000 after he was charged with allegedly sexually abusing a teen victim over the past few years.
The Alabaster Police Department arrested James Harrison Moore II, who lists an address in the 200 block of Wilderness Lane, on June 23 and charged him with two felony counts of first-degree sodomy and one felony count of first-degree sexual abuse.
The arrest came after a member of the victim’s family told police Moore allegedly sexually abused the teenage victim over the “last couple of years,” said Alabaster Police Chief Curtis Rigney.
“After that initial report, we opened an investigation, and then arrested him on the 23rd,” Rigney said, noting Moore was taken into custody at the Alabaster Police Department.
Because the victim is a juvenile, Rigney said he was unable to release many details about the crime.
First-degree sodomy is a Class A felony, and first-degree sexual abuse is a Class C felony. Class A felonies carry prison sentences of up to 99 years, and Class C felonies carry sentences of up to 10 years.
