MONTEVALLO—Montevallo High School was awarded $2,500 from Lemak Sports Medicine and Dr. Lawrence Lemak during the 2014 AHSAA championship dinner.

This award is provided to schools and their respective athletics programs that express a need for improvement. In the case of Montevallo High School and Montevallo Athletics, this need was to raise the level of support and training for student-athletes at MHS. This included the acquisition of additional resources, equipment and improved facilities to better serve and support all athletics programs at MHS.

Kevin Raybon, assistant principal, and Wesley Hester, principal, were on hand to accept the award. Governor Robert Bentley and Lemak presented the award to Hester during the ceremony.

“Although our standards of excellence and performance are as high as any other school or program in the state, large or small, this award will tremendously benefit our programs at higher levels because we do operate on relatively small budgets,” Hester said in a press release from the school. “My gratitude for Dr. Lemak and Lemak Sports Medicine cannot be overstated.”
