Pelham Police respond to assault at Reddy Ice

PELHAM—At approximately 6:50 a.m., the Pelham Police Department received a call from Reddy Ice on County Road 52 West regarding an altercation.
According to a news release from the Pelham Police Department, the caller, an employee of Ready Ice, stated he had been in an altercation with his uncle, also an employee of the company. The victim told the police he and his uncle were in an ongoing dispute over work related issues. During the Aug. 28 altercation, the victim stated his uncle struck him in the head with a carpenter’s hammer.
Officers on the scene observed a large, deep laceration to the victim’s forehead. A number of witnesses also provided statements corroborating the victim’s account.
The Pelham Police later located the suspect and arrested him for second-degree assault.
According to the Pelham Police Department, the victim’s injuries did not appear life threatening. He was initially treated at the scene by Pelham Fire Medics and stated he would travel to a local emergency room by personal vehicle for further treatment.
The Pelham Police Department is not releasing the name of the suspect until a warrant has been obtained.
