It was a total team effort on Aug. 29, as the Evangel Lightning shut down Tabernacle, taking a 40-0 win.

“The boys did great,” head coach Don Murphy said. “I think the last two games we’ve found our identity. It’s team.”
Murphy was quick to praise to combination of senior leadership and the eagerness to learn of his young players, as Evangel was forced to replace 13 of 16 starters from last year’s team.

“The seniors are leading,” he said. “The young players are picking it up, (and) the O-line is gelling well. It’s exciting to see.”
The Lightning move on to face Victory Christian on the road Sept. 5.
