Raymond Richard Carter, age 73, died Monday, Sept. 15 at Coosa Valley Medical Center. The funeral service was held at 11:00 a.m., Thursday, Sept. 18 at Curtis and Son Childersburg Chapel. Burial followed at Harpersville Cemetery. Rev. Ronnie Forbus officiated. Visitation was from 5:30 p.m. to 8:00 p.m., Wednesday, Sept. 17 at Curtis and Son Childersburg Chapel.

Raymond Carter was a member of the Masons and a self-employed contractor for more than 30 years. Mr. Carter is preceded in death by his parents: Henry and Pearly Carter and sisters: Jerry Holcomb and Wilma Ingram. He is survived by his wife: Sheila Carter; children: Shane Carter (Ana), Kathy Murphy (Keith) and Jeanie West (Terry); sisters: Flora Mae Higgins and Ruby Faye Brewer; grandchildren: Kelly, Josh, Ali, Jacob, Ricky, Tony, Jackson, Colby, Tyler, Hope, Caitlyn and Courtney; great-grandchildren: Walker, Madison, Kadence, Kloie and Elijah; and nephew: Wayne Holcomb.
