I wanted to take the time to introduce myself. My name is Graham Brooks and I am a resident of Hoover where I’ve lived ever since I was 5 years old. I recently graduated from Auburn University and soon after, began working for the Shelby County Reporter.
After just three weeks on the job, I can already tell what makes Shelby County one of the most desirable places to live in Alabama.
The people are what make up any great town or city. You can have all the nice buildings and facilities around, but if people aren’t personable or caring what do you really have?
This is one thing I’ve noticed over the past three weeks while working in Shelby County. The people have been noting short of an absolute pleasure to work with.
Whether it’s out reporting a story, a city council meeting or just talking on the phone, I have encountered nothing but great people who like to see others succeed. This was one of the main jobs I wanted to obtain when I heard about the opening and I was ecstatic when I found out I was offered the job. Being a central Alabama resident, I know that I can relate to a lot of people in the area and I understand the caring nature of people who live in this state. I look forward to working with the many businesses, citizens, schools and officials within the Shelby County area. I will strive to use a high sense of integrity and report and promote stories that show the true face of Shelby County and its residents.
I’ve already enjoyed working with the people I’ve met so far and the stories I’ve had the opportunity to cover.
With fall getting under way and a number of events upcoming in October and November, I am excited to continue working during one of my favorite times of the year.
