ALABASTER — Thompson’s already tough season added another chapter Oct. 10 during a 41-7 defeat at the hands of Hewitt-Trussville on homecoming night. The game was called halfway through the third quarter due to incoming inclement weather.

In just two-and-a-half quarters, the Warriors trailed the Huskies 41-7. Hewitt-Trussville drew first blood when half back Jarrion Street ran three yards for the first score of the ball game. After a three-and-out by Thompson, the Huskies had the ball again and, this time on a four-yard touchdown run by quarterback Zach Thomas.

Thompson punted on its first three possessions but did manage to catch one break when defensive back Jabari Alexander intercepted a Zach Thomas pass. The turnover set up a six-yard Frank Mwaikajumba run with 9:37 left in the half.

The Huskies only needed a little over a minute to erase their mistake when Thomas hit Noah Igbinoghene for a 52-yard score. Hewitt-Trussville then led 21-7 and never looked back. Halfback Jarion Street added another score off an 8-yard run on the Huskies ensuing possession and Thomas would fire yet another touchdown pass on the following possession with 2:05 left in the first half, this time to Nick Campbell for 35-yards. The extra point was blocked by Thompson’s T.J Rayham.

When the teams came back out to begin the second half, it was more of the same for Thompson. Hewitt-Trussville marched down the field again and delivered the final blow, a four-yard touchdown run by Blake Osborn.

Inclement weather soon arrived in the area and cause the game to be delayed then finally called by the referees with 6:11 remaining in the third quarter.

Thompson moves on to face the Tuscaloosa County Black Bears on Oct. 17.
