PELHAM—Choice Furniture and Design in Pelham is in the midst of its first “Help Our Community Week.” Starting Oct. 11 and continuing through Oct. 15, 10 percent of all store sales will go toward the Kingdom Christian Center Church and Daycare.
“It’s about raising money for a local charity in need,” store owner Joni Whitfield said, adding she has always supported “helping the community” and wanted to build that into her business model.
Help Our Community Week will be a monthly event at Choice Furniture and Design. Each month, proceeds will benefit a different charity, Whitfield said. Next month she plans to raise money for the Pelham youth football and cheer programs.
The furniture store is also a green business, encouraging customers to recycle items rather than throw them away. The goal is to “keep it out of the landfill,” Whitfield said.
Through the store’s loyalty reward program, customers can earn points by dropping off any furniture items. Even if they can’t be resold, Whitfield said she can often take them apart and reuse parts of old items in the creation of new furniture pieces.
Choice Furniture and Design is located at 2758 Pelham Parkway. The store is open Monday through Saturday from 9 a.m. to 10 p.m. and Sunday from 10 a.m. to 7 p.m. More information is available online at Choicefurnitureanddesign.com.
