Hubert Brooks Reeves, Jr. passed from this life to be with the Lord, Nov. 8.
He is survived by his wife, Ann, the love of his life for 62 years, his children, David and spouse Jan (Rochette), Debbie and spouse David Lanphear, of Bowling Green, Ky., Dan and spouse Stephanie (Dunn), Beth and spouse Darryl Fuller.
He is also survived by 10 grandchildren and 10 great grandchildren.
He was predeceased by his grandson Gabriel Titus Hunt.
Hubert, known to many as Pop or Poppa, was 82 years of age at his death.
He was born and raised in the Inglenook community of Birmingham, attended Phillips High School graduating in 1949 and obtained a B.S. degree in agronomy from Auburn University in 1953. He served in the United States Naval Reserves from 1952 to 1954. He was a member of the American Society of Professional Soil Agronomist.
He retired as a Senior Sales Representative of International Mineral and Chemical Corporation in 1993. During his career, he received numerous recognitions, acknowledged by his peers as one of the best in the country in his field.
Hubert was a lifelong Republican and out spoken advocate for limited government. He never held public office but was instrumental in the election of numerous officials including his own son who serves currently as a Circuit Judge in Shelby County.
Hubert was an elder and founding member of the South Columbiana Church of Christ where he was active in preaching and teaching the word of God. He regarded serving God and spreading the gospel message as his most important work during his all of his adult life.
Viewing will be at Bolton Funeral Home in Columbiana from 6-8 p.m. Monday, Nov. 10. Funeral services will be at the same location at 2 p.m. Tuesday, Nov. 11, with graveside services immediately following.
