WILSONVILLE–The Kovakas Food Pantry in Wilsonville was the recipient of a kind donation just in time for the holiday season.

Six men from the Alabama Power E.C. Gaston Steam Plant in Wilsonville arrived in two trucks where they brought 1,075 pounds of canned food items to help contribute to the Can Hunger food drive held from Oct. 24 to Nov. 14 to help families in the area put food on the table this holiday season.

E.C. Gaston Plant employees delivered the food to Penny Kovakas, director of the pantry who was very thankful for the effort and amount of food they were able to collect.

“We were just thankful for the guys from Alabama bringing the food,” said Kovakas. “They brought two truck loads and over a thousand pounds of food.”

Kovakas Food Pantry Inc is a 501(c) 3 non-profit organization that distributes free groceries every second and fourth Friday of the month
