A Faulkner University freshman from Chelsea died in an off-campus shooting incident Dec. 3.

Ryan Brooks, 19, was killed during an attempted robbery that occurred at about 7:38 p.m. on Dec. 3 on Woodmere Boulevard, according to a Dec. 4 post on the Montgomery Department of Public Safety’s Facebook page.

The Montgomery Police Department has arrested three teenagers in connection with the incident, the post read.

Marshall Wall, 19, and Ronnie Williams, 19, both of Loxley, and Tobias Russell, 19, of Alexander City have each been charged with one count of murder. They were arrested Dec. 4 and transported to the Montgomery County Detention Facility, where they are each being held on a $75,000 bond.

According to the post, Montgomery police and fire medics responded to a call of an individual being shot on Woodmere Boulevard. Authorities located Brooks, who had sustained a gunshot wound and was pronounced dead at the scene.

The MPD’s investigation revealed Brooks and Wall, Williams and Russell allegedly attempted to enter a residence to commit a robbery, and during the attempt, Brooks was shot by the homeowner in self-defense.

Wall, Williams and Russell were charged with murder because Brooks was killed during the commission of the robbery attempt in which the three are suspects.

A press release from Faulkner University stated the university is cooperating with the MPD and law enforcement officials as the investigation continues.

Anyone who has additional information about the incident is urged to contact Faulkner Chief of Police Tony Dean at (334) 313-4778 or (334) 386-7415.
