Martha “Joyce” Roy, age 56, of Calera, was called home Thursday, Jan. 8.
Joyce was born in Philadelphia, Miss., on March 3, 1958. She was a loving wife, mother, daughter and sister.
She was predeceased by her son, Christopher James Roy and her father, Herman Lee Johnson. Her survivors include her devoted husband of 36 years, JR Roy; son, Richard Samuel Roy; mother, Martha Jones; sister, Shirley Vaughn (Willie); brother, Howard Johnson (Lynn); father and mother-in-law, George Roy, Sr. and Elizabeth Roy; sisters-in-law, Barbara Sue Franks (Timmy) and Doris Ann Sajpel (Wally); brother-in-law, George Roy, Jr.; and a host of other family members and friends.
The family will receive friends from 5-8 p.m. at Charter Funeral Home Monday, Jan. 12. The funeral service will be at the funeral home Tuesday, Jan. 13 at 2 pm. The committal service will follow in Shelby Memory Gardens.
