NORTH SHELBY – The North Shelby Library will offer free tax return preparation help through the Volunteer Income Tax Assistance (VITA) Program on Feb. 7 from 10 a.m. to 3:15 p.m.

Reservations are required, and space is limited.

Call the North Shelby Library at 439-5511 by Feb. 6 to reserve a space.

The IRS VITA/TCE return preparation sites are operated by certified volunteers, according to Irs.gov.

Items needed to receive assistance include: proof of identification (photo ID); Social Security cards for each family member; birth dates for each family member on the tax return; wage and earning statements such as W-2 forms from all employers; proof of bank account routing and account numbers for direct deposit such as a blank check; total paid for daycare provider and the daycare provider’s tax identifying number such as their Social Security number or business Employer Identification Number; and copies of income transcripts from the IRS and state, if applicable.
