HOOVER – Greystone Golf & Country Club has a packed schedule of events planned for the month of February.

A National Signing Day event honoring future UAB Blazer John Hayden will be held Feb. 4 at 2:30 p.m. in the Founders Clubhouse Trophy Room, along with an ice cream social in memory of Bob Hilton, past Greystone Golf & Country Club president.

Hayden is the son of Gavin and Marianthi Hayden.

He grew up playing in Greystone’s junior golf program and has raised more than $42,000 for a special endowment, the Bradley Johnson Memorial Foundation, geared toward underprivileged American Junior Golf Association (AJGA) players, according to a press release.

Hayden was recognized as one of the organization’s top fundraisers in its Leadership Links program and earned the Presidents’ Leadership Award, co-sponsored by the USGA.

Hayden played golf with PGA Tour Pro Rickie Fowler on Nov. 22, 2014, at Medalist Golf Club in Hobe Sound, Fla., the release said.

The event is open to the public.

A sale will be held at the Founders Golf Shop on Feb. 5 from 10 a.m. to 5 p.m.

The shop is always open to members and non-members.

The shop is located in the main clubhouse off Greystone Drive.

On Feb. 6, Mardi Gras Fun Friday will take place from 6-10 p.m. at the Founders Clubhouse.

The member event will feature live music, drink specials and fellowship with friends, family and neighbors.

Executive Chef Daniel Mitchell will oversee the evening’s food selections: complimentary hors d’oeuvres including jambalaya, seafood gumbo and Cajun chips with remoulade, and dinner options including fried oyster po-boy with choice of side, and beef tenderloin medallions with smashed potatoes and grilled asparagus.

“Our chef is from New Orleans, so he really does an incredible job on the New Orleans Mardi Gras theme,” Communications Director Mallory Bobba said. “The food is free, so we encourage members to come out and mingle.”

Another Mardi Gras-themed event called Kitchen Secrets from The Stone Cooking Demo will be held Feb. 11 at 6:30 p.m. at the Founders Clubhouse.

The event is limited to the first 30 members ($35 per person).

For the bar course, Front of House Manager Andrew Nevins’ drink presentation will feature Arnaud’s Special and The NOPC (New Orleans Pimm’s Cup).

Mitchell will provide three courses of food: Shrimp Stuffed Mirlton with light Creole tomato sauce; Trout Amandine with Brabant Potatoes, Brussels sprouts and
Tasso Ham; and Strawberries Arnaud.

Valentine’s at the Falls will be held Feb. 13 and Feb. 14 at the Legacy Clubhouse with reservations from 5-9 p.m.

In addition to The Falls Menu, a three-course Prix Fixe menu for $45 person will be available.

The menu will feature a choice of a dozen fried oysters on the half shell with spicy remoulade or smoked duck breast garnished with raspberry vinaigrette dressed arugula; surf and turf – grilled 6-ounce beef tenderloin and three seared day boat scallops served with creamed spinach, pommes frite, demi glace and beurre blanc; and white chocolate bread pudding with Grand Marnier cream and raspberries.

Reservations can be made by calling 986-5120.

A President’s Day Junior Golf Camp is scheduled for Feb. 16 from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. at the Founders Course.

The camp is for ages 7-17.

Blackburn Golf Certified Instructors will lead the camp, which is open to members and non-members.

The price is $100 per member, $120 per non-member and $10 for each additional family member.

Prices include instruction, lunch and contests.

A novice tennis tournament will be held on Feb. 28.
