Shelby County students compete in Scholars’ Bowl

ALABASTER–High school students from various schools around Shelby County competed in the Scholars’ Bowl High School Varsity Competition on Wednesday, Feb. 4.

Awards were given and Oak Mountain High School and Shelby County High School Varsity Scholars’ Bowl Teams finished as the top two teams and will meet Feb. 19 to compete for the championship.

The teams met and competed at the Shelby County Instructional Services Building, where they showed off their intellectual abilities to compete for the highest scores for their schools as well as individually.

Helena High School Varsity Scholars’ Bowl team finished in third place.

Some of the individual winners were Raven Edwards from Calera High School, Sam Reece from Montevallo High School, Grant Beard from Helena High School, Matt Tindal from Oak Mountain High School, Jim Vick from Shelby County High School and Davis Whitfield from Vincent High School.
