BRIARWOOD – The Briarwood baseball team will host the JD Kynerd Baseball tournament from Feb.16-19, which will include Briarwood, American Christian Academy, Oak Mountain and Ramsay. The four-day tournament named in memory of former Briarwood student JD Kynerd, will kick off the baseball season for all four teams.

Briarwood, which swept Homewood in the second round of the 5A playoffs last year, will look to build on last year’s postseason success during the 2014-15 campaign. As baseball season begins yet again this spring, look for the Lions to continue to be in the conversation for one of the premier teams in the county.

The tournament will kick off on Feb. 16 with a 2 p.m. matchup between ACA and Oak Mountain at 2 p.m. followed by Briarwood and Ramsay at 4:30. The next day will see Briarwood and Oak Mountain take the field at 4 p.m.followed by ACA and Ramsay at 6:30. Feb 18 will conclude the round robin play by pitting Briarwood against ACA at 4 p.m. followed by Ramsay and Oak Mountain at 6:30. The championship game will take place on Feb. 19 at 6:30 p.m. with the consolation game immediately preceding it at 4.
