FROM STAFF REPORTS

HELENA–Helena Elementary and Helena Intermediate Schools have jointly initiated a Peer Helper Program on their school campuses, with both schools holding their first mentoring sessions on Wednesday, Feb. 11.

The HES and HIS Peer Helpers will meet with their school counselors weekly, for activities that focus on leadership enhancement. Once per month, they will also meet with the Helena High School Peer Helpers for leadership mentoring sessions, where all students involved will be engaged in hands-on learning activities.

The HES and HIS Peer Helpers will utilize what they learn during their sessions to be role models in their classrooms, make a positive impact in their school culture, and serve as school ambassadors to transitioning students and their families. Additionally, through this program, the HHS Peer Helpers will enhance their mentoring skills—a vital part of leadership.
