ALABASTER — The Main Street Medical Mile now has a website, which allows residents to search by medical provider type, name, or specialty to find medical providers in the area.
The Main Street Medical Mile is an initiative of the city of Alabaster, which is being administered by the Commercial Development Authority. The project aims to bring awareness to the large contingent of medical-related businesses in the area, according to Alabaster City Manager George Henry.
“We have a large concentration of medical services along this corridor from specialists, general practice, medical supplies, skilled care, hospital, etc. The primary intent of this initiative is to create awareness of these medical care options available in our community,” Henry said.
The Mainstreetmedicalmile.com website, which was designed by Me2Graphics LLC, allows residents to find easily access information about the doctors and specialists in the area.
The site also explains the eight different purposes of the Main Street Medical Mile, which include a desire to “show support and confidence for the City of Alabaster as a proven quality location for medical care” and “find ways to educate patients and their families on the comprehensiveness of care available to patients so they are not inconvenienced by traveling to other counties and states,” according to the website.
“The website allows for residents to search by medical provider type, name, specialty, etc.,” Henry said, noting that businesses can also advertise on the site. “All providers who have Alabaster business licenses are preloaded into the site. Those who choose to be a sponsor/member will have enhanced listings.”
