HOOVER—The Hoover Police and Fire departments responded to reports of a suspicious envelope at 450 Riverchase Parkway East in the morning on Feb. 27.
According to an email from Hoover Police Department Captain Gregg Rector, employees of Blue Cross / Blue Shield reported a suspicious envelope delivered to the 450 Riverchase Parkway East location.
“A Hoover Police Explosives K-9 responded and detected no evidence of any explosive material,” Rector wrote.
The Hoover Fire Department Hazardous Materials team also reported to the scene, and the envelope was removed from the building.
Preliminary tests on the envelope for “biological or chemical agents” came back negative, Rector confirmed.
“The envelope has been safely removed from the building and will be taken to a laboratory for further analysis,” Rector said.
