Pelham to host hockey tournament

PELHAM – The University of Alabama Frozen Tide will head into the American Collegiate Hockey Association (ACHA) National Championship Tournament from March 10-14 as both the host and a contender. Seeded as second in the South division, the Frozen Tide will look to advance to the finals in front of their loyal home fans. Playing in its third championship tournament in four years, this is the first time the Frozen Tide has hosted the exciting tournament. Four teams from each of the four regions, North, South, Pacific and East will join Alabama on its home ice.
The tournament begins on Tuesday, March 10 at 10 a.m. in Pelham. The Frozen Tide will take the ice against Michigan State University at 7 p.m. on the main rink. The Tide’s second game is Wednesday, March 11 versus the University of Pittsburgh-Johnstown also at 7 p.m. on the main rink. Thursday, March 12 is the Frozen Tide’s last qualifier with a 7 p.m. start time against Colorado State University, which is also on the main rink.
Semi final games will be played on Friday, March 13 at 1 p.m. and 4 p.m., and the National Championship game will be decided on Saturday, March 14 at 3 p.m. on the main rink. The University of Alabama encourages fans to consider purchasing weekend passes which enable them to attend all 16 games as well as the semi finals and championship rounds.
