HELENA–With the weather beginning to warm up, more outdoor events are being planned and people want to enjoy time outside.
One of the events Helena residents and families can enjoy is Helena First Fridays, which take place the first Friday of each month beginning in April.
The focus for the April 3 First Friday will be youth sports in Helena, and children are encouraged to wear their sports uniforms for a night highlighting youth spring sports.
Helena First Friday will take place Friday, April 3, from 5:30-8:30 p.m. in Old Town Helena as many vendors, restaurants, entertainment and prizes can be enjoyed by all ages.
“We will have representatives from the Birmingham Barons and Birmingham Hammers and three other sports teams Friday,” said Stephanie Lucas, marketing director for the newly formed Helena First Friday Committee.
Frios Gourmet Pops and Cantina on Wheels will be two of the food vendor trucks on-hand to go along with existing restaurants that will be open in Old Town for the night.
The musical duo Intermission featuring Barbara Snyder and Josh Arnold will be the performers as those in attendance can listen to some acoustic tunes while browsing through roughly 25 different vendors on-site.
There will be plenty of activities for kids as Birmingham Barons mascot Babe Ruff will be on hand as well as bouncy houses and face painting for kids to enjoy.
One of the prizes being given away will be two family four packs of tickets to a Birmingham Barons game as well as other prizes.
“It might be a little tough to get a lot of people out here due to spring break and Good Friday, but our goal is to get the city involved and support local businesses while having a good time,” said Lucas.
