MONTEVALLO–Spring is in full swing and that means many festivals and outdoor activities are beginning to crank up all around Shelby County.

The city of Montevallo will be hosting the ninth annual Montevallo Arts Fest on Saturday, April 11, from 10 a.m. to 5 p.m. at Orr Park.

This free event gives artists the chance to show off their best work, and gives those in attendance the chance to purchase their artwork if they choose.

Montevallo Arts Council President Suzanne Hurst has been involved with the Arts Fest for the past five years and mentioned some of the changes for this year.

“A change for this year is that we’re sharing the park with a Ride for Life group,” said Hurst. “They are having a motorcycle ride for the charity Relay for Life. They will be coming to the park at 3 and we’re joining them at the art show.“

Fifty to 100 motorcycles are expected to be on hand at the Arts Fest.

The Arts Fest is considered a family friendly event and there will be plenty of things for children to do such as games and activities.

Food and music will also be provided as entertainment for guests in attendance but what makes the Arts Fest unique is the scenic venue Orr Park offers.

“Orr Park is a great spot for the Arts Fest because it’s shaded and there are a lot of walking paths,” said Hurst. “All the artists say it’s one of their favorite art festivals.”

There will be three different categories for the artists booths that include fine arts, fine crafts and students.
