The roadway at Alabama 25 and 305 near the Summerhill community is closed for the next several hours because of a fatal single-vehicle wreck on April 15.

The road was closed at about 12:15 p.m., according to a Shelby County Sheriff’s Office news release.

Southbound traffic is being diverted onto Alabama 315, and northbound traffic is being diverted to Alabama 97.

Motorists are encouraged to use an alternate route of travel, if possible, and to drive cautiously in the area as first responders work to clear the roadway as soon as possible.

The sheriff’s office will release an update when the roadway is clear.
