HELENA–On Monday, April 20, four Helena High School students attended the Helena City Council meeting where they were each honored with a $250 scholarship courtesy of Helena’s Buck Creek Festival.
The girls posed for a picture with the $1,000 check that will be divided equally between them to use for school and were congratulated by members of the Helena City Council.
The award winners were Kylie Woodman, Madison Crain, Anna Wilson and Ashley Traylor.
The Buck Creek Festival also holds its annual art contest to give those a chance to show off their artistic skills to come up with the best looking logo for the annual festival.
Laura Joseph received $100 for winning the best design that shows a duck with out stretched wings emblazoned with color and Joseph also depicts the waterfall in Buck Creek in the background.
The 2015 Buck Creek Festival will be held May 8-9 in Helena’s Amphitheater Park that will include many vendors, live music, family fun and a duck race.
This will be the festival’s fourteenth year and the festival continually raises funds that directly impacts the Helena community and helps give back.
The scholarship money given to HHS students was from 2014 Buck Creek Festival proceeds.
