ALABASTER – Adam Moseley will continue to serve as the president of the Alabaster Board of Education, and Derek Henderson will continue in his role as the board’s vice president after both were re-elected to the positions during a May 18 meeting.

The School Board is required by law to elect its president and vice president during its first regular meeting in May.

Moseley and Henderson began serving as board president and vice president, respectively, in May 2013.

During the May 18 meeting, both men were the only nominations for the two positions, and both were elected unanimously by their fellow School Board members.

Before Moseley became president in 2013, Melanie Shores, who stepped down from the board in March 2013 citing health reasons, served as president. School Board member Ty Quarles served as the vice president before Henderson was elected to the seat in 2013.

“I complement both of you and the board for the quality of leadership you have provided in our second year,” Alabaster School Superintendent Dr. Wayne Vickers said. “I look forward to great things to come.”

Moseley said the board has had success because of its teamwork mentality.

“It is a team effort,” Moseley said. “Everyone brings a unique skill to the board, and I am thankful for that.”

School Board member Linda Church complemented the pair for their leadership over the past few years.

“It’s difficult to run meetings, and I’m grateful that they’ve agreed to serve another year,” Church said.
