HELENA–School is out for the summer and families are looking to spend more time together and what better way to do that than going to see a movie as a family.

This summer, the Movies in the Park series returns to the Helena Amphitheater as eight movies are planned to be shown for families and children of all ages to enjoy.

Movies in the Park is presented by the Helena Business Association and throughout the months of June and July, a family movie will be shown every Friday night beginning at dusk on a large projector screen for Helena residents and families to enjoy.

Coordinator David Schlueter said it will be very similar to years past and eight movies are planned to be shown this summer.

“We will have a concession stand with hot dogs, burgers, fries, drinks and more at very reasonable prices,” said Schlueter. “We will start the movie at dusk but before the movie starts, kids can play on the playground or can play while the movies going on and wear themselves out.”

A new brighter projector was purchased this year and FarmerGuard Pest Control, a local Helena business will also spray and treat the area for mosquitoes beforehand to keep everyone comfortable during the showing.

“These are all family oriented movies and we won’t have anything showing that will be questionable,” said Schlueter. “Most features are animated and a few are live action.”

The first movie shown in the series will be the popular Disney movie Frozen on June 5 that will include a sing along with lyrics on the screen.

The rest of the movies are as follows: Planes-Fire and Rescue on June 12, Muppets Most Wanted on June 19, The Lego Movie on June 26, Alexander and the Terrible, No Good, Very Bad Day on July 10, Cinderella on July 17, Big Hero 6 on July 24 and The Boxtrolls on July 30.
