ALABASTER – Regions Bank will close its branch on First Street North in Alabaster in late August, the company announced recently.
The company will close the branch, which is slightly south of the Ernest McCarty Ford dealership, on Aug. 28, according to Regions spokesperson Jeremy King.
“As a normal course of business, we consistently review the efficiency and effectiveness of our branch network,” King wrote in a statement. “Following a recent review, we decided to consolidate the Alabaster First Street North branch into the nearby Alabaster Promenade branch beginning August 28.”
King said the decision to close the First Street North branch was based on a “variety of factors,” including customer traffic and volume and the branch’s proximity to other branches.
“We have two additional branches in Alabaster within approximately three miles of the First Street North branch,” King wrote. “We also have a branch a few miles to the north on Highway 31 in Pelham.”
All employees at the First Street North branch will be offered jobs at other area Regions branches, King said.
King said no other Regions branch closures are planned in Shelby County.
“We will work with customers who wish to transfer items (from safe deposit boxes) to other Regions locations. Items should be moved by August 21,” King wrote.
After Aug. 28, all accounts based at the First Street North branch will automatically transfer to the Promenade branch.
