Former University of Montevallo point guard Troran Brown worked out for the Milwaukee Bucks on June 10 with five other players in front of Bucks head coach Jason Kidd and some other scouts. Brown, who signed with Naiditch Entertainment out of Chicago soon after his senior season ended, has been in Chicago since he signed, working out and preparing for the draft.

The NBA draft will take place later this month, on June 25, and the Bucks hold the 17^th overall pick and the 46^th overall pick. the Bucks are interested in Brown, they would most likely look to take him with their second round pick, or hope he goes undrafted and sign him to a deal after the draft is done.

Brown had quite the college career leading up to this moment. As a sophomore, his first year at Montevallo, Brown averaged a team-best 18.7 points per game to go along with 5.8 assists per game. He was named the Peach Belt Conference Player of the Year in both his junior and senior seasons to become only the third player in the history of the conference to win the award twice. In his senior season with the Falcons, Brown averaged a conference-best 19.6 points per game and a conference-best 6.1 assists per game. He is the all-time assists leader at Montevallo and in the Peach Belt with 574 and scored the most points of any three-year player at Montevallo, 1,752, and fourth-most in program history.

No one is more familiar Brown’s talent than Danny Young. Young, the head coach of the University of Montevallo’s basketball team, has coached the silky-smooth shooter from Phoenix for the last three years and has watched him do some special things on the basketball floor. Young has been in contact with Brown often since he moved to Chicago and said Brown is excited for this phase of his life.

“He’s in great spirits,” Young said. “He talked about seeing Jason Kidd on the sidelines during his workout.”

Young said the best part of Brown’s game, his unselfishness, might not necessarily work in his favor in the kind of environment where every player is trying to impress, however Brown shot 47.7 percent from the floor in his senior season, and can flat out stroke it. Young would not be specific, but estimates there are upwards of five other teams interested in Brown as well.
