ALABASTER – Alabaster teens will have a chance to enjoy a massive water slide at the city’s Municipal Park in mid-July, thanks to the efforts of the Alabaster Teen Council.
The Teen Council will host a slip ‘n slide day for the city’s teenagers from 2-5 p.m. at Municipal Park’s 5-acre field on Tuesday, July 14.
While multiple activities are planned for the event, the day’s main attraction will be a 33-foot-long by 8-foot-wide water slide stretching across the field. Refreshments will be provided by area churches, according to the Teen Council.
For safety reasons, the event is only open to local middle and high school students.
The Teen Council is composed of the following students:
Eighth-graders Caleb Ragland, Gracie Coker, Danyea Swoopes and Katherine Lilli.
Ninth-graders Nyla Crear, Andrea Munoz, Chris Miranda, Sam Pearce, Timberly Crocker, Tyger Quarles, Nick Walker, Jacquelin Herrera, Mary Catherine Grill and Randi Mitchell.
Tenth-graders Nathabi Mashego, Devin Shepard, Destiny Richardson, Jillian Prichard, Jacob Megios, Tyler Couch and Maddie Black.
Eleventh-graders Reggie Chambers, Ashley Sills, Austin Akins, Caroline Herringdon and Alijah Steele.
The slip ‘n slide event is one of several events the Teen Council has scheduled for this summer. The teens recently worked with Alabaster Mayor Marty Handlon to organize regular teen movie nights at the Veterans Park baseball field.
The movies began on June 9, and will continue every other week from July 7-Aug. 4. For a complete listing of Alabaster teen events, search for “Alabaster Teen Council” on Facebook.com.
