Charlie R. Burton
Charlie Burton passed away Thursday, July 2, at the age of 98.
He was born on November 10, 1916. He was a member of Westwood Baptist Church of Alabaster. Charlie served in the United States Marine Corps from 1936 to his retirement on December 31, 1955. Following his retirement, he worked for the Florida Department of Corrections.
He was proceeded in death by his wife, Ruth Burton; and son, Charles (Eddie).
He is survived by his son, Bobby (Scottie); his daughter-in-law, Molly; his grandchildren, Ched, Chris and Brian Burton; and great grandchildren, Jay, Alex, Lindsey, Gray and Parker Burton.
Much of Charlie’s life with his wife Ruth was spent in Avon Park, Fla., where he was an active member of the First Baptist Church of Avon Park, The Lions Club and Mason’s.
