Thomas Larry Rich, age 80, of Chelsea, died Sunday, July 5, after a brief illness.
The graveside service was held Wednesday, July 8 at 11 a.m., at Mt. Signal Cemetery with Rev. Greg Gann officiating. Visitation was from 9:30-10:30 a.m., Wednesday, July 8 at Bolton Funeral Home.
He was an avid racecar builder/owner for over 50 years, contractor for over 30 years and a garage owner for 15 years. Mr. Rich was a huge Alabama Crimson Tide and Jeff Gordon (NASCAR) fan.
Mr. Rich is preceded in death by his wife of 52 years, Edith B. Rich; brothers, Daniel Rich and Van Rich; and a sister, Lula Fowler.
He is survived by his son, Lavoy Rich (Jenny); daughters, Robbie Rich and Cindy Rich; grandchildren, Max Sayles (Geannie), Jennifer Kelley (Brian), Brittany Rich, Aaron Rich, and Austin Rich; great grandsons, Kason Kirkland and Preston Kelley; brother, Harold Rich (Nancy); sisters, Rachel Leamon, Susie Hill, and Thelma Jean Lombardi (Bob); and numerous other family and friends.
