PELHAM— This Fourth of July brought more than fireworks to the Pelham area, as Brito’s Supermarket officially opened at 150 Cahaba Valley Road.

The Mexican market offers a variety of fresh fruits and vegetables, specializing in affordable grocery from Mexico and Central America. Inside, customers will also find a grill, butcher and bakery.

The in-house butcher carries chicken, some fresh seafood (sometimes including whole fish and octopus), pork and beef, along with house-made chorizo and marinated beef fajita meat.

The taqueria inside serves a wide variety of authentic Mexican tacos, including chicken, shrimp, beef, pork, tongue and tripe. Tacos are made-to-order on the grill with onions, cilantro and more. Brito’s also has a bakery case filled with fresh baked bread, pastries and made-daily tortillas.
