ALABASTER – A trio of local companies will help keep Alabaster’s school buildings and grounds maintained over the next year, as the city’s Board of Education approved a trio of bids during a recent meeting.

The School Board voted unanimously during a July 13 meeting to approve ground maintenance, turf management and janitorial services for Alabaster’s six school campuses.

Through the agreements, the Alabaster City School System will pay $112,515 to the Maylene-based Steven’s Wack-N-Sack to provide ground maintenance at the schools, which will include services such as grass-cutting, edging and weed-eating.

ACS will also pay $37,840 to the Birmingham-based Southern Green Lawn and Shrub Care company to provide turf management services to the school systems, which will include fertilizer treatments and more.

The school system also voted to accept a $125,800 bid from the Maylene-based Bailey’s Cleaning Services to perform janitorial services at the city’s schools over the next year.

The services will include Creek View Elementary, Meadow View Elementary, Thompson Intermediate School, Thompson Sixth Grade Center, Thompson Middle and Thompson High School.
