CHELSEA – A resurfacing project on Shelby County 39 in Chelsea will be finished before school starts on Aug. 12, Shelby County Engineer Randy Cole said on Aug. 6.

“We don’t need but a couple more days to be finished with the asphalt installation,” Cole said. “We will be out of the way before school starts.”

The project started earlier this week.

“It’s fine to continue to use that (road),” Cole said. “It will be safe. Slow down in the construction zones and drive safely.”

The county also has been working on the intersection of Old U.S. 280 and Shelby County 11 the last few weeks.

Cole said additional turn lanes from Shelby County 11 to Old U.S. 280 are being incorporated to ease traffic flow at the intersection.

The intersection should be finished by the first part of the week of Aug. 10, Cole said.
