HOOVER—The Village at Lee Branch will be getting trendier this September. Trussville’s popular women’s shop, South Boutique, will next to Fitness Xpress in the beginning of the month.

South Boutique specializes in contemporary women’s clothing and accessories, offering the latest trends and styles from New York to California.

“People come to the store expecting to see something they won’t find somewhere else,” storeowner Anna Spruiell said. “We just got back from (a buying trip) in Las Vegas, and we’ll go into Atlanta and New York every couple of months.”

From rompers and dresses to jewelry and totes, South Boutique carries something for every budget and women of every age. The boutique also has a selection of tailgate apparel and fashionable college game day wear for diehard Alabama and Auburn fans.

“We have such a big range, we have a top for $30 and a dress for $300,” Spruiell said. “We try to have something for everybody.”

Spruiell opened South Boutique in March 2013 after moving back home to Birmingham from Charleston, S.C., where she managed a boutique.

“I knew I could run a store, and I knew I liked doing it myself,” Spruiell said. “It was going to be small, but I was going to make it work regardless.”

The boutique quickly outgrew its 1,000-square-foot space on Gadsden Highway in Trussville, gaining a strong base of regular customers and large online following.

Spruiell was considering numerous out of state locations for South Boutique’s second store before finding the Lee Branch location.

“Lee Branch is perfect… 50 percent of our customers were driving from Birmingham,” Spruiell said. “It’s going to be the same look and feel, but a lot more inventory.”

The new 3,600 square-foot storefront in Lee Branch will house office space for photo shoots and shipping for online business, space for South Boutique’s line of home goods and, of course, plenty of space for clothing.
