Columbiana man dies in Tennessee plane crash

BON AQUA, Tenn. – A Columbiana man was killed when the plane he was flying from Shelbyville, Tenn., to the Shelby County Airport crashed in Hickman County, Tenn., near the Bon Aqua community.
Authorities identified the crash victim as Columbiana resident James House, according to the WSMV television station in Nashville.
The Hickman County, Tenn., Sheriff’s Office began receiving 911 calls reporting a single-engine plane had crashed near New Hope Road in the Bon Aqua community at about 3:48 p.m. on Sept. 2, according to a post on the agency’s Facebook page.
The pilot, who was the only occupant in the plane, was pronounced dead on the scene by Hickman EMS, according to the sheriff’s department.
On Sept. 3, the Federal Aviation Administration had removed the plane wreckage and moved it to another location to conduct a thorough examination. According to an FAA preliminary incident report, House was flying a Van’s RV6 aircraft registered to Columbiana-based Chelsea Aviation Enterprises.
