Oak Mountain vs. Thompson
Oak Mountain defeated the Lady Warriors in straight sets in an in-county match on Sept. 8, 25-16, 25-23, 25-20. Three sophomores led the Lady Eagles on the night along with one senior. Kathryn Beard had 18 assists and two digs, Cameron Rueschenberg had nine kills, one block and one assist, Tori Denkers had two kills and four blocks while Savannah Francis, the senior, had six kills, two aces and 12 digs.
Shelby County vs Brookwood
Shelby County took part in a tri-match with Brookwood and Indian Springs and split the two matches. The Lady Wildcats lost to Brookwood, who remained undefeated at 11-0 with the win, in three sets, 12-25, 25-18, 13-15.
Indian Springs at Shelby County
The Lady Wildcats took down Indian Springs in the second match of the night in three sets, 21-25, 25-16, 15-2. Shelby County was led on the night by Madison Douglas, who had 12 kills and eight aces, Megan Stevens, who had 10 kills, five aces and six blocks, Anna Wood, who had 10 kills and six aces and Samantha Slaughter, who had 35 assists.
Coosa Valley at Tuscaloosa Academy
The Lady Rebels continued their early season success with a three-set victory on the road against Tuscaloosa Academy. Coosa Valley won 26-24, 25-19, 25-11 and Sarah Warren, Kalei Merrifield and Sydni Bolden were the standouts. Warren had eight aces, 18 assists and two blocks, Merrifield has 12 kills and Bolden had 14 digs on the night.
Pelham vs. Homewood
Pelham took care of business at home against the Lady Patriots on Tuesday night in straight sets. The Lady Panthers sweated through the second game, but overall were in control throughout the night as they won 25-17, 27-25, 25-15.
Spain Park vs. Chelsea, Walker
The Lady Jaguars hosted a tri-match on Tuesday night and hosted Chelsea along with Walker High School. Spain Park defeated Chelsea two games to one, but fell to Walker by the same score.
Briarwood at Woodlawn
Briarwood traveled to Woodlawn for its first region game of the season on Tuesday night and came away with a straight set win. The Lady Lions moved to 5-3 on the season with the win and 1-0 in region play.
Kingwood vs. Morgan Academy
The Lady Lions continued their dominant 2015 campaign on Tuesday night with a straight set win over Morgan Academy. Kingwood didn’t give up double-digit point totals in any of the three games, winning 25- 4, 25-7, 25-9 to advance to 11-0 on the year. won its first nine matches in a row without dropping a single game, and has only dropped one game total to this point all season.
