JEMISON – Jemison fell to 0-5 on the season with a 34-0 loss to Calera as the Eagles moved to 3-1 on Friday, but coach Van Clements said he sees progress.
“I thought our guys made strides tonight,” Clements said. “This team has worked really hard and continues to put forth effort. This next week, we will work on building our defense and work on tackling. We really just need to work on not shooting ourselves in the foot.”
The Panthers are now 0-3 in region play, while Calera improves to 3-1 and 2-1.
Calera struck quickly, with Charles White scoring just 16 seconds into the game.
White added two more touchdowns, one in the third quarter and one in the fourth.
Kyle Harrell scored Calera’s other two touchdowns.
Zachary Ford was good on four point-afters.
Harrell had 17 carries and rushed for 154 yards total to lead the way for Calera both in yardage and carries. White had an explosive night, only notching three carries for a total of 106 yards and two scores. Starting quarterback Ty Evans did not complete a pass on the night, but did rush six times for 30 yards.
Calera held Jemison to just 131 yards of total offense on the night. The Eagles will return home next week to take on Shelby County as they look to move to 4-1.
