MONTEVALLO–Dozens of horse trailers filed onto the property of the Stamps Farm in Montevallo on Tuesday, Oct. 6, and those who arrived planned to do more than just ride horses.

About 30 people showed up for a trail ride fundraiser to help support Dave and Amy, a local couple who are looking to adopt their second child.

The day could not have been more perfect, as friends and acquaintances of the the family showed up with their trailers and horses to prepare to ride three separate riding trails located on the Stamps property.

One of those friends, Debbie Sullivan, also arrived with her horse and trailer to help support the couple.

“We’re expecting about 30 of us and they’re going to trail ride on their own horses and then we’re having a luncheon prepared by Beverly Stamps,” said Sullivan. “It’s a fundraiser for Amy and Dave to adopt a baby. Our daughters grew up together and Amy was my daughter’s best friend growing up and Amy’s mom and I have been friends our whole lives, so we support each other.”

The Stamps Farm is Amy’s family farm and it is the place where Amy learned to ride. She and Dave have been married for 12 years, and they met through a mutual friend. They currently have one adopted son named McEachern, who they adopted in 2013.

Dave and Amy are looking to expand their family and they understand that the adoption process can be long, tedious as well as challenging financially.

“This is our second adoption and we’re working with the Adoption Network Law Center out of Lake Forest, Calif.,” said Amy. “They helped us with our first adoption of our son who is now 2-and-a-half.”

The couple is in the process of getting matched with a birthmother in the United States for their second adoption and they are excited that God has another special child in store for their family.

“Because adoption has been such a tremendous blessing in our lives through the adoption of our precious son, McEachern, we have a genuine desire to continue growing our family in this way,” reads the couples fundraiser website. “We plan to adopt domestically yet again as that is where God is leading our family and we want McEachern to have a sibling in his life.”
