Thompson sweeps tri-match

The Thompson Lady Warriors moved to 17-16 on the season with two tri-match victories over Hueytown and county foe Chelsea. Thompson beat Hueytown without issue, 25-5, 25-10 before handling the Lady Hornets in straight sets as well, 25-23, 25-12. Milea Ray had 12 kills and 13 digs in the two matches to lead Thompson.

 

Oak Mountain falls to Hoover in 7A clash

Hoover once again got the better of the Lady Eagles this season, this time at Oak Mountain’s gym. The Lady Eagles had fallen to Hoover earlier in the season and were looking for redemption, but could not seem to find a groove, losing to the Lady Bucs in three sets, 25-17, 25-10, 25-20 as Oak Mountain fell to 35-11. Cameron Rueschenberg had 14 digs and three kills while Jacoby Sims had six kills and a block to lead Oak Mountain.

 

Oct. 13

Briarwood takes down Shades Valley

Briarwood picked up a big, come-from-behind win against Shades Valley on Tuesday night to the tune of a four-set, 17-25, 25-11, 25-13, 25-13 victory. Alex O’Brien had 14 assists, two aces and five digs while Anna Donohue had 15 assists and eight digs and Sophie Muir-Taylor contributed 11 kills, five aces and seven digs to lead the way for the Lady Lions.

 

Oak Mountain wins two in tri-match

The Lady Eagles from Oak Mountain bounced back from a disappointing three-set loss at the hands of Hoover on Oct. 8 with two wins in a tri-match against Gardendale and Homewood. Oak Mountain handled Gardendale 25-18, 25-10 before beating Homewood 25-18, 25-14 to move to 37-11 on the year. Savannah Francis had eight kills, three aces and nine digs on the day while Cameron Rueschenberg had nine kills, one ace and 13 digs to lead the way for Oak Mountain.

 

Thompson falls to Walker County

The Lady Warriors fell back to .500 on the season with a loss to an upstart Walker County team via a four-set, 18-25, 28-26, 23-25, 21-25 close contest to move Thompson back to 17-17. Milea Ray had 17 kills and 30 digs while Olivia Johnson had 35 assists in the match.
