Pelham’s cross-country star, Mary Grace Strozier, took the 2015 6A State Championship title for the second year in a row Nov. 14 in Oakville. Her time of 18:36.38 in the 5,000-meter run was well above the second place time of 19:15.32.

Strozier was ranked No. 4 overall, meeting the National Silver Standard, with the No. 1 time being 17:52. 25 by Amaris Tyynismnaa.

Last year, Strozier was also the No. 1 competitor in 6A and was ranked No. 3 overall.

Her impressive career at Pelham High School resulted in the high school senior officially signing with Samford University as of Nov. 11. She said she is looking forward to starting this new chapter of her life at Samford.

She follows in the footsteps of her mother, who also ran for Samford University when she was a student there.
