Lady Lions win first two easily

In the first week of the 2015-16 basketball season, the Briarwood Lady Lions won their first two games by a combined scored of 129-57. In the first game of the year, on Nov. 17 on the road against Dora, the Lady Lions won easily, 73-27 before returning home for the home opener on Nov. 19 against Benjamin Russell, a game Briarwood won handily as well, 56-30.

Benjamin Russell did not score in double digits in any quarter except the fourth, when the game had already been decided. Briarwood held the visiting Lady Wildcats to just four points in the second quarter on the way to building a commanding 37-11 lead at the break. An 18-8 advantage in the third quarter brought the score to 53-19 at the end of the third quarter.

Shelby Proctor led the way for Briarwood with 18 points and Morgan Hutchinson contributed 10 to lead the Lady Lions.

Briarwood was 2-0 as of Nov. 20.
