Panthers fall in Thanksgiving Tourney finals

After winning rounds against Benjamin Russell and McAdory, the Pelham Panthers ultimately lost to Sumter Central in overtime, 75-72, in the championship game of the Shelby County High School Thanksgiving Tournament Nov. 25.

In the final round, Alex Reese had 32 points, Cole Whitman 15, Justin Allison 13, and Mitchell Rottier 11. David Law had 14 points for Sumter Central.

The Panthers are now 5-1.

The Panthers defeated McAdory 59-50 in the semifinals of the Thanksgiving Tournament Nov. 24. At the half, the score was tied 26-26. Pelham came out and took the lead in the third quarter and hung on for the victory. Reese led Pelham with 29 points, 10 rebounds, and four blocks. Allison added 14.

In the first round of the tournament, Pelham defeated Benjamin Russell 58-38 at Shelby County High School Nov. 23. Pelham scored first in the game on a Reese layup to start the game.

For the Panthers, Reese led with 29 points, 9 rebounds and 4 blocks on the night. Allison had 18 points, 5 assists and 5 rebounds. Rottier had 8 points and 3 rebounds. Goolsby had 5 points and a rebound. Whitman had 2 points and five rebounds for the Panthers.
