HOOVER—Who’s ready for Freddy’s? The national franchise will open its first Alabama restaurant in The Village at Lee Branch shopping center in Spring 2016.

Freddy’s serves up all-American food, from burgers and hotdogs to sundaes and shakes. The family friendly restaurants are designed to evoke the spirit of the 1940’s and 1950’s, “a post-war era of pride and values focusing on unity and quality time,” Lee Branch franchise operator Brian Pyle explained.

“The Village at Lee Branch shopping center is a prime location surrounded by residential areas that are very family-oriented,” Pyle wrote in an email. “We feel Freddy’s is a great fit for the area because of the family-friendly atmosphere we provide.”

The restaurant’s menu is laden with hearty burgers, specialty hotdogs and fries piled high with cheese or chili. Freddy’s also offers chicken options and a kids’ menu.

A customer favorite is Freddy’s Original Double combo meal: A burger made with two lean beef patties topped with two slices of American cheese, mustard, pickle and onion, sandwiched between a toasted bun.

And don’t forget the fries.

“The meal comes with a heaping portion of our crispy shoestring fries, which we recommend dipping in our famous fry sauce,” Pyle wrote.

Of course no meal is complete without dessert. Freddy’s specializes in fresh churned frozen custard. Customers can orders either chocolate or vanilla custard in a cone, as a sundae, in a shake or as a “concrete”—a combination of custard and a selection of mix-ins, such as hot fudge, caramel, Reese’s peanut butter cups, nuts and more.

“We’re excited to make our area debut and we look forward to opening our doors in early spring next year,” Pyle wrote.
